$1 to $1000 on Poker Stars

It’s a good feeling to be back over $100 after dropping down to about $40.  This challenge has taught me a lot about variance and the importance of proper bankroll management.  Today will be the last day that I will post for a while as I am leaving for Vegas on Sunday.  Wish me luck.

Well I continue to ride it, and am heading back up the hill.  Decided to mix some 0.10/0.20 limit back in, and it started out good, but the fish won in the end.

Saying that I had a bad weekend at the cash tables is an understatement.  I don’t recall all of the beats, but two in particular were crippling.  AA vs KK all-in preflop for a full $5 buyin and K on the flop.  QQ vs JJ all-in preflop for a full $5 buyin, J on the turn.  I’m going to keep pressing, but I’m starting to wonder if this can be done.

Well I ended up winning a satellite to FTOPS #14 for $80, but went out 305 out of 592.  I felt that I played pretty well and chipped up pretty early, but found that the field was weaker than I thought and I wasn’t able to bluff as much.  Even though the structure was pretty good, it caught up to me.  I definitely have a better strategy for tackling it next time, so I can’t wait for that.

I didn’t feel so bad about not making the money in FTOPs because I took down the 6 pm $5 tourney for $365.  I played pretty well throughout the tournament, got lucky with my 44 > 88 with about 20 people left, and never really looked back.  Thanks to wammer for railing me to the win in the only way he knows possible.

Back to Stars….

The roller coaster that is 0.01/0.02 NL continues.  Had my KK run into AA, my AA lose to 88, and QK lose to AK where I had trip kings on the turn and the Ace came on the river.  What made this hand difficult was that the person with the AK never raised until the river when she pushed.  I put her on a missed draw or AQ as there was also a straight draw on the board.  I apologize, I forgot to tag the hand history.
